About Farwell

Farwell is a Clinton County census-designated place in Chapman Township, set on the north bank of the West Branch Susquehanna River between Renovo and North Bend. Pennsylvania Route 120 runs through the community along the river corridor, linking it with Renovo to the west and Lock Haven to the southeast. Summerson Mountain rises 1,000 feet above Farwell to the northwest, giving the place a very legible mountain-and-river map. The surrounding West Branch is part of Pennsylvania’s 228-mile water-trail system, with fishing and paddling routes along the river. Farwell’s daily geography is compact: a state route, a river, a steep mountain wall, and the neighboring borough that carries much of the valley’s civic and commercial activity.
