Ferndale, MI

Ferndale is an Oakland County city on the Woodward Corridor just north of Detroit, known for its downtown and its role as a hub of Metro Detroit's LGBTQ+ community. Native people lived in the area long before the modern city formed, and Ferndale later became a compact inner-ring suburb. Today its identity is unusually strong for its size: restaurants, bars, Pride events, older homes, Ferndale Public Schools, and quick access to Detroit all make it feel lively, compact, and socially distinct.
