Flatwoods, KY

Flatwoods is a welcoming community of about 7,300 people located in Greenup County, Kentucky. Sitting on a high, wooded ridge above the Ohio River, the town gets its name honestly and stays well clear of seasonal river flooding. It went through early names like Advance and Cheap before locals settled on Flatwoods in the early 1900s. Today, U.S. 23 connects the town directly to neighboring Russell, Ashland, and the greater Huntington area, making it an easy base for regional commuters.
