Fleming, CO

Fleming is a statutory town in western Logan County, part of the Sterling micropolitan area. Its post office opened in 1888, the town incorporated in 1917, and the name honors Henry Bascom Fleming, a railroad official. The 2020 census counted 428 residents. That sequence puts the railroad and post office at the beginning of the town’s civic history, with the wide Logan County agricultural landscape still surrounding the modern grid.

Fleming K-12 School keeps education in town, with the Fleming Wildcats giving the school a visible place in local routines. The old schoolhouse and railroad station are remembered through local museum displays and a small park at the west edge of town. Town Hall at 114 North Logan Avenue handles local government, while the school, post office, utilities, and sports program form the everyday civic map. Fleming’s present life remains tied to the institutions that grew beside the railroad: a school, a municipal center, and a small town surrounded by working farmland.
