About Flemington

Flemington is a Clinton County borough east of Lock Haven, laid out in the Bald Eagle Creek valley between the creek and the West Branch Susquehanna. Squire John Flemming bought roughly 1,650 acres here in 1770, and the borough still carries the family name. The remnant of the Bald Eagle Crosscut Canal is the giveaway that Flemington once sat inside a much larger transportation plan: the four-mile canal linked Lock Haven to Flemington and fed into the broader canal system. Today the borough’s map is compact—PA 150, Bald Eagle Creek, old canal ground, and Lock Haven next door. Flemington is central Pennsylvania with a frontier name and a canal-era footprint still visible.
