Fletcher, OH

Fletcher is a Miami County village east of Piqua, where the 2020 census counted 451 residents. It was platted in 1830 and named for Samuel Fletcher, a local storekeeper. East Branch Lost Creek and West Branch Lost Creek drain the village, while U.S. Route 36 and State Route 589 carry traffic through the surrounding farm country. The village sits within the Dayton metropolitan area but keeps a distinctly small-town road map.

A grain elevator remains one of Fletcher’s most recognizable working features. The facility once belonged to Shepard Grain Company and is now operated by Champaign Landmark, tying the village to the crops and freight that pass through Miami County. The old post office closed in 2010, but the town’s main roads, waterways, and farm businesses still provide its daily frame. Fletcher’s story is built from a storekeeper’s name, two branches of Lost Creek, a grain elevator, and highways that connect the village to Piqua and the wider Dayton area.
