About Floriston
Floriston is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Nevada County, California. The 2020 census counted 80 residents. Floriston is situated at an elevation of 5,400 ft above sea level. Formerly an important railroad stop and mill town, Floriston survives to this day as a small residential community. The railroad station was established in the 1870s with the name of Bronco after the name of the creek a mile to the south. The Floriston post office opened in 1891.
