Fordoche, LA

Fordoche is a town in Pointe Coupee Parish, set along Fordoche Bayou on the Old Jefferson Davis Highway between Livonia and Melville. Livonia is about four and a half miles away and Melville about eleven, so the town sits in a short-distance network of parish roads, farms, churches, and bayou crossings. The name and setting carry the local geography plainly: Fordoche is a place defined by the waterway that bends through the countryside and by the road that connects it to neighboring towns.

Municipal work here is hands-on. Fordoche's town government maintains streets, drainage, water service, public improvements, police protection, and general administration, while Pointe Coupee Parish handles the wider parish systems.
