Forest Heights, TX

Forest Heights is an Orange County CDP east of State Highway 87, about eight miles north of Orange. The name likely comes from the piney woods around the settlement, and the community was well established by the early 1970s. It is a residential place rather than an incorporated town, with Little Cypress-Mauriceville Consolidated Independent School District serving local students. The 2020 census counted 1,329 residents. On the map, Forest Heights sits between Little Cypress and Orange in the northeastern county, a Texas settlement whose identity comes more from pine trees, school boundaries, and the highway than from a separate downtown.
