Forest View, IL

Forest View is one of Cook County’s smallest communities, home to fewer than 800 residents. It was originally established in 1924 as a quiet enclave for World War I veterans looking to put down roots just west of Chicago. The early years took a wild turn during Prohibition when Ralph Capone set up shop in the area, earning the settlement the temporary nickname "Caponeville" until local authorities and residents stepped in to shut the bootlegging rings down for good.

Today, residential Forest View is a cozy, tucked-away pocket bordered by Stickney and Chicago’s Garfield Ridge neighborhood. Most of the village is dedicated to commerce, freight, and transport corridors along the Stevenson Expressway, which keeps the small residential streets quiet and self-contained. Families here are served by Lyons School District 103 for elementary and middle school, with direct access to I-55 for an easy commute into downtown Chicago.
