Fort Johnson, NY

Fort Johnson is a small hamlet along the north bank of the Mohawk River, sitting right on the western edge of Amsterdam in Montgomery County. The community has a quiet, relaxed feel shaped by low-key residential streets, rolling upstate hills, and open river views. Its name comes from Old Fort Johnson, a sturdy 1740s limestone home and trading post built by British colonial official Sir William Johnson that still stands today as a local landmark and museum.
