About Fort Lawn

Fort Lawn is a Chester County town about two miles west of the Catawba River, with U.S. 21 running through its center. The town’s map still points north toward Rock Hill and south toward Great Falls, but another marker carries a much wider history: a 9/11 memorial built from pieces of a steel beam removed from the World Trade Center site. The place also carries an older plantation-era story. Walker owned 1,000 acres here, and after his death in the 1870s his widow wanted a town called Walkerville. The local shorthand is Catawba, U.S. 21, Walker history, and a memorial with national weight.
