About Fort Peck

Fort Peck began as a planned 1930s government town, built to house the thousands of workers constructing the Fort Peck Dam along the Missouri River. Today, it has settled into a quiet community of roughly 240 people. You can still see that early era across town, from the original wooden houses and classic administration buildings to the Swiss chalet-style Fort Peck Theatre, which still puts on live plays every summer.
