About Francis Creek
Francis Creek is a Manitowoc County village located inside the Town of Kossuth, east of Interstate 43. The name also comes from the nearby creek, while the village's earlier history follows the old Green Bay Road: Joseph Poquin operated a stopping place there by 1842, and saw and grist mills followed near the water. A post office bearing the Francis Creek name opened in 1850, and residents incorporated the village in 1960.
Today, village government works from the hall on Norwood Drive, with a board, monthly meetings, and a community newsletter. Pla-Mor Park gives the village a gathering ground, and local clubs use it for activities and youth programs. The annual community-wide rummage sale turns streets and homes into a shared event on the first weekend of June; the Francis Creek Lions Club adds a food tent at Wagner's Restaurant. Those recurring details show how the village's civic life runs through its park, hall, service groups, and neighboring town structure.
