About Frankfort

Frankfort is a Ross County village along the North Fork of Paint Creek, with a name that arrived after the place had already started its first chapter. The settlement was laid out as Oldtown in 1816, received a post office in 1817, and became Frankfort in 1834. Adena Local Schools serve Frankfort along with Concord, Union, and Deerfield townships, and the village has a branch of the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library. Paint Creek gives the town its natural line, while the school and library keep the everyday map local. Frankfort is a small Ohio place where an old name change, a creek, and a shared school district do most of the talking.
