Franklin, ID

Tucked into the scenic Cache Valley right along the Idaho-Utah border, Franklin is a peaceful community of roughly a thousand residents. It holds a unique place in regional history as Idaho's oldest permanent settlement, established in 1860 by pioneers who initially believed they were still within Utah territory. That heritage remains visible throughout town today, seen in the charming historic stone houses, preserved pioneer landmarks, and local gatherings like the annual Idaho Day celebration each June.

Living in Franklin offers a slow-paced, rural lifestyle surrounded by open farm fields, mountain backdrops, and the nearby Bear River. Even with its quiet countryside feel, the location is very practical for daily living. Highway 91 runs right through town, making it easy to run errands in Preston or head south to Logan, Utah for shopping, dining, and university events in under twenty minutes.
