Franklin is a city and the parish seat of St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, situated along Bayou Teche. Founded in 1808 as Carlin's Settlement by pioneer Joseph Carlin and containing a well-preserved historic district, the residential and commercial community of approximately 6,461 is served by the St. Mary Parish School Board locally.
