About Fredonia

Fredonia is a Coconino County town on the Arizona Strip, a few miles south of Utah and on the road toward the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The town was laid out in 1886, and U.S. 89 once ran through its center; the 1960 rerouting changed the traffic pattern and cost Fredonia several roadside businesses. Today U.S. 89A still carries the historic north–south route through town, while Fredonia-Moccasin schools serve the local area. Fredonia is a northern Arizona town whose story is written in border country, highway changes, and the North Rim road.
