About Frewsburg
Frewsburg is a Chautauqua County hamlet and CDP along U.S. 62, which doubles as Main Street. The name comes from Hugh and Mary Frew, identified in local history as the first European family to settle here in 1807. Conewango Creek runs along the west side of the community on its way to the Allegheny River. The calendar has its own local markers: the fire department runs Gala Days in mid-July, and the annual June Rib Festival brings another round of food and gathering. Frewsburg sits just southeast of Jamestown, but the creek, the highway, and the Frew name give it a distinct place on the map.
