Funk, NE

Funk is a quiet village of fewer than 200 residents tucked into the rolling farm country of south-central Nebraska. Founded in the late 1800s when local farmer P. C. Funk helped bring the railroad through the area, the community has proudly preserved its agricultural roots for generations. Today, it offers a relaxed slice of small-town living where neighbors look out for one another and open prairie skies stretch in every direction.

Beyond the village itself, the area is famous for the Funk Waterfowl Production Area, a massive wetland that draws birdwatchers from across the country to witness vast flocks of migrating ducks, geese, and sandhill cranes. It is a peaceful place to settle down, with the added perk of being a quick drive from Holdrege and Kearney for shopping, healthcare, and dining.
