Galesville, WI

Galesville is a Trempealeau County city on Beaver Creek, where a dam forms 98-acre Lake Marinuka north of town. The 2020 census counted 1,662 residents. Judge George Gale founded and platted the place in 1854, and the old river-and-rail setting still shows in Reception Park, which began as Riverside Park beside Beaver Creek before becoming a stop for railroad passengers and steamboat rides. Today the lake and parks give Galesville its clearest local map. Reception Park has a lighted ballfield, volleyball courts, picnic shelter, playground, and restrooms; Arctic Springs/Fireman's Park sits along Beaver Creek with fishing ponds, a picnic shelter, and a walking trail.

The city's South Main Street address puts its library and municipal offices in the same downtown grid. A Lake Marinuka protection district covers the city and Gale Township, while the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau school district serves Galesville, Ettrick, and Trempealeau.
