Gasport, NY

Gasport is a quiet canal community sitting just east of Lockport along Route 31. It got its name back in the 1820s when canal workers discovered natural gas bubbling up from a local spring. Today, the Erie Canal remains the centerpiece of the area, complete with a historic lift bridge, a local marina, and waterfront trails for walking and cycling.
