Geronimo, TX

Geronimo is a Guadalupe County census-designated place on the northeast bank of the Guadalupe River, about six miles north of Seguin along State Highway 123. The 2020 census counted 1,097 residents. The name comes from the nearby creek and the natural springs once called Tío Geronimo, giving the place a Spanish-and-river beginning. James Bowie surveyed land in the area during the Mexican Texas period, and the community later grew along the road between Seguin and San Marcos. Geronimo has a little more going on than its size suggests. Antique shops line the day-trip circuit, Navarro Independent School District serves local students, and Geronimo Creek runs through the surrounding watershed before reaching the Guadalupe.

San Marcos is about 15 miles north, New Braunfels is west, and Seguin is the practical county-seat neighbor to the south. The landscape is classic central Texas: live oaks, farm roads, springs, and a river that can turn from backdrop to main event after heavy rain. Geronimo's local scoop is a small Hill Country community with antique-store browsing, old springs, and the Guadalupe close enough to shape the whole address.
