Gervais, OR

Tucked into the farmland of the northern Willamette Valley, Gervais is a quiet, close-knit community of around 2,600 people. Located right along Highway 99E, the town sits just a few minutes south of Woodburn and roughly 15 miles north of Salem, making it a convenient home base for commuters who prefer a rural setting. Named after an early French-Canadian settler who farmed the area's rich French Prairie soil, Gervais retains deep agricultural roots, surrounded by nurseries, berry farms, and open countryside.

Day-to-day living here centers on a small grid of residential streets and local schools serving elementary through high school students. While the town provides essential municipal services and a few local eateries, residents typically make the short drive to Woodburn for larger grocery runs and retail, or commute into Salem for hospitals and broader employment options.
