Glasgow, WV

Glasgow is a Kanawha County town along the Kanawha River, east of the larger communities gathered around Charleston. The river valley has always been the town's defining line, giving Glasgow a place on a water route through central West Virginia. Glasgow incorporated on June 20, 1920. Stories about the name point in two directions, linking it either to Scottish immigrants in the region or to a glass company that once operated nearby.

The town's present-day government, emergency contacts, and municipal agencies still work from the river settlement that grew around industry and transportation.
