Glen Ridge, FL

Glen Ridge is a tiny Palm Beach County town built around a very specific idea of place: a residential pocket where the trees and birds get to stay part of the neighborhood. Kenyon and Karl Riddle developed the roughly 100-acre town in the 1930s, the town incorporated in 1947, and residents chose the name Glen Ridge from a suggestion by Helen Mosler. The whole town is a registered Bird Sanctuary, which is not just a sign at the edge—it is part of the town’s official identity.

Most of the map is homes, tree cover, and the little park donated by resident Ester Flury, with West Palm Beach and the larger South Florida urban area close by. Glen Ridge does not read like a separate commercial center; it feels more like a small residential town with its own boundary and civic rhythm tucked into Palm Beach County. The bird-sanctuary designation gives the place a memorable local hook without needing to make it larger than it is.
