Glenmoore, PA

Wallace Township gives Glenmoore its present civic frame. The Historical Commission meets at the Indiantown Schoolhouse in the village, maintains archives, and has published a township history and historical atlas. A township municipal authority built a sewage system in the 1980s after small lots and malfunctioning on-lot systems made individual repairs impractical. Glenmoore is an unincorporated Chester County community in Wallace Township and the Philadelphia metropolitan area, organized along Pennsylvania Route 282.

It was first called Norwood, then renamed Glenmoore in 1874 to reflect its founder and its narrow valley setting. The 2020 census counted 872 residents, and the village was the birthplace of William Moore McClure, a Union Army colonel during the Civil War. Wallace Township's local history connects Glenmoore to former railroad stops and major roads that helped small Chester County hamlets develop.
