Glenwood, NE

Glenwood is a Buffalo County census-designated place with an older name tucked inside it: the area was first known as Glenwood Park, after a nearby park, before the post office name shortened to Glenwood in 1894. That post office closed in 1900, but the place name stayed on the map. Nebraska Highway 10 runs through the community north of Kearney, and Highway 40 points northwest toward Miller. Glenwood’s story is less about municipal buildings than about a rural neighborhood that kept its name after its official mail stop disappeared.
