Golconda, IL

Golconda sits along the Ohio River in deep southern Illinois, serving as the quiet seat of Pope County. Set against rolling bluffs with Kentucky just across the water, the town grew out of an early frontier ferry crossing in the late 1700s. Today, it has the relaxed feel of a classic river landing, where 19th-century brick storefronts and the historic courthouse anchor a peaceful community right on the edge of the Shawnee National Forest.
