Golden Shores, AZ

Golden Shores is a Mohave County census-designated place of 1,927 people at the 2020 census, in the desert north of Topock along the Colorado River. Its mailing address is Topock, which is why the two names often travel together, but Golden Shores is the Census place on the north side of the I-40 river crossing. The community sits about four miles north of the interstate and fifteen miles south of Mohave Valley, with Oatman Highway and old Route 66 defining the travel map.

Life here turns on the river, the desert, and the highway. Mohave County's community profile highlights boating, off-road routes, open desert, sunsets, the fire department, post office, restaurants, and a shared civic center. Topock Elementary and Colorado River Union High School serve local students, while the Historic Route 66 Back Country Byway begins at the Topock/Golden Shores exit and climbs toward Oatman. Golden Shores is not a river resort in the usual sense; it is a desert community that keeps one foot in Colorado River recreation and the other on the long road through western Arizona.
