About Gonzalez

Gonzalez is a census-designated place in Escambia County, north of Pensacola and closely associated with the Cantonment area. The village has also been called Gonzalia, named for the Gonzalez family that owned a farm in the area. During the Civil War, a Confederate storage facility connected to Manuel Gonzalez's son, Samuel Z. Gonzalez, gave the place a wartime role. Today Gonzalez is suburban and semi-rural, with schools, churches, homes, and quick access to Pensacola's jobs and Gulf Coast services.
