About Gordonville

Gordonville is a Cape Girardeau County village in southeast Missouri, with 625 residents in the 2020 census. The settlement grew on land held by Sam Gordon and his father; Sam opened the first store around 1857 or 1858, and the village took the Gordon name. Its roads place it in the Cape Girardeau–Jackson area, close enough to those larger communities for work, shopping, and school connections while retaining a small-village scale.

Gordonville Attendance Center serves kindergarten through second grade as part of Jackson R-II. Older students continue through the district, whose high school and activities connect the village with Jackson and the surrounding countryside. That school link is an important part of Gordonville’s present-day map: a short early-grade campus, farm roads, and the nearby regional towns all fit into the same daily routine. Gordonville’s story is modest in size but clear in shape, with an early store giving the place its name and a shared school district carrying that local connection forward.
