Gotebo, OK

Tucked into southwestern Oklahoma’s Kiowa County, Gotebo is a quiet, close-knit town sitting roughly an hour northwest of Lawton. Founded in 1901 during the opening of the Kiowa, Comanche, and Apache Reservation, the community was soon renamed after Chief Gotebo, a respected local Kiowa leader. Surrounded by sprawling wheat fields and cattle pastures, the town offers plenty of open space and a relaxed, peaceful pace of life.

Agriculture remains a central part of daily life out here, though many residents make the quick drive to neighboring Hobart or Mountain View for work, dining, and shopping. Life is simple and neighborly, centered around local gatherings and family roots. Every year, the community comes together for the Gotebo Get Down, an annual festival that brings current residents and returning families together for a weekend of good food, music, and hometown pride.
