Grandview, IL

Grandview is a village in Sangamon County, Illinois, part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The 2020 census counted 1,405 residents. It sits immediately southeast of Springfield, with city roads, county services, and Springfield’s water system shaping the village’s suburban edge. Local streets lead into the capital region while the village retains its own municipal center and community calendar.

Grandview and several nearby suburbs formed in the late 1930s in part to obtain water from the City of Springfield. That beginning gives the village a practical central Illinois story: a small municipality built alongside a growing capital city and tied to it through infrastructure.
