About Grandview Lake
Grandview Lake is a platted community in western Bartholomew County, about ten miles southwest of Columbus, built around a private man-made lake that began taking shape in the 1960s. The lake and the surrounding lots are governed through the Grandview Lot Owners Association, so access, shoreline work, boating, and common property are part of neighborhood governance. The association also manages roughly 700 acres of watershed woods and a seven-mile trail network through the lake's wooded perimeter, with use reserved for lot owners and their guests.
The arrangement gives Grandview a different rhythm from a public park or a conventional subdivision. Residents share responsibility for water levels, roads, trails, safety rules, and major infrastructure, including the spillway replacement application filed in 2024. Homes face the lake, but the woods and the association's committees matter just as much to how the place functions. Grandview's local story is about private recreation, shared maintenance, and a carefully managed edge between household property and common land.
