Grantsboro, NC

Grantsboro is a Pamlico County town at the intersection of NC 55 and NC 306, with 692 residents in the 2020 census. William Grant, a New York native who arrived as a peddler around 1890, built a store and gave the developing settlement its name. The town incorporated in 1997 and became the first place in Pamlico County with a stoplight. Its crossroads position keeps it tied to Alliance, the Neuse and Bay rivers, the ferry system, and Pamlico Sound, while New Bern sits within the broader regional orbit.
