Granville South, OH

Granville South is a Licking County CDP of 1,420 residents in the 2020 census, in the southern and southwestern part of Granville Township. State Route 16 runs through the community, with State Routes 37 and 161 providing the bigger regional links: Newark is about eight miles east, Columbus’s northeast suburbs about twenty miles west, and the village of Granville just north. Raccoon Creek drains the area toward the Licking River, so the landscape is tied to the same watershed as the county seat.

Local life is spread across township roads and the Granville-area recreation system. Raccoon Valley Park, at River Road and Route 16, has baseball and softball diamonds, soccer fields, a batting cage, playground, and concession stand; Infirmary Mound Park adds 326 acres of hiking, fishing, horseback riding, and picnicking south of Granville. The local scoop is a highway-oriented community with Granville close by, Columbus within the wider orbit, and Raccoon Creek and the parks providing the clearest local landmarks.
