About Green Lake
Green Lake is the Green Lake County seat on the north side of Big Green Lake, Wisconsin's deepest natural inland lake at about 239 feet. The city began in 1847 as the village of Dartford, and the county seat moved there in 1862, briefly shifted to Princeton in 1866, then returned after a court decision. The Town of Green Lake sits across the water on the south shore. Green Lake is a Wisconsin place where the county map and the lake map are almost the same thing.
