Green Springs, OH

Green Springs is a village in Sandusky and Seneca counties where the 2020 census counted 1,233 residents. The area's earlier history includes Kaskaskia and Miami presence, followed by the Seneca Reservation established through the 1817 Treaty of Fort Meigs. The Seneca later relinquished the reservation through the 1831 Treaty of Little Sandusky, a difficult chapter that remains part of the land's story. The treaty history gives the village a deeper context than its small size might suggest.

State Route 19 passes through town as Broadway Street. The former Mad River and Lake Erie Railroad crossed Green Springs, while the Nickel Plate line runs along the southern edge and continues today as part of the Fostoria District. Green Springs Elementary belongs to Clyde-Green Springs Schools, whose teams are known as the Fliers, and a Birchard Public Library branch adds another local gathering place. The village's two-county setting, school, railroad corridors, and treaty history all sit close together, giving Green Springs a strong sense of place in northern Ohio.
