Greendale, MO

Greendale is a small St. Louis County city in the Normandy area, with its business district along St. Charles Rock Road between Normandy Drive and the city's eastern edge. The city was incorporated on May 2, 1950, and its streets are mostly residential. Zion Cemetery forms the city's cemetery district, while Greendale Municipal Park and Pavilion provide a place for local events. The municipal boundary is only about two-tenths of a square mile, so the surrounding Normandy and St. Vincent County Park areas quickly become part of the everyday landscape.

Greendale's municipal life is organized through a compact city government, with an elected mayor and four at-large alderpersons. The city has planted more than 400 street trees and holds Tree City USA recognition. A path near Greendale Municipal Park connects neighbors toward St. Vincent County Park, whose larger grounds include recreation facilities, picnic areas, and the St. Vincent Trail. Students attend the Normandy Schools Collaborative, with Normandy High School as the district's comprehensive high school, while police services are provided through a contract with Normandy. Greendale's 2020 population was 642. It is a tiny municipality with a clear street grid, a working business strip, and a close connection to the larger Normandy area.
