About Greendale
Greendale is a Milwaukee County village with a rare national planning story. It was one of the New Deal-era greenbelt communities, designed with curving streets, pedestrian paths, parks, and a village center rather than ordinary subdivision blocks. The area has older Native history, including Potawatomi presence, and part of the Root River runs through the community. Greendale is also connected to the Milwaukee County Parks Oak Leaf Trail. It feels both historic and deliberately designed, with a village center that still sets it apart from surrounding suburbs.
