Greenport, NY

Greenport is a village in the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, situated on the North Fork of Long Island. The only incorporated community in Southold Township, Greenport developed a strong fishing and whaling industry in the nineteenth century; many of its older structures are included in the Greenport Village Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. Today the village hosts the annual Maritime Festival and is home to the East End Seaport Museum.
