About Greensboro
Greensboro is Hale County’s seat in Alabama’s Black Belt, a town shaped by cotton-era courthouse business and the long history of the people who lived and worked this land. Magnolia Grove, a Greek Revival house built around 1840, stands at Main and Hobson and is now a state historic site. The Black History Museum in Greensboro keeps the civil-rights era in the story too: Martin Luther King Jr. took refuge there when he was threatened while meeting activists. Greensboro is a west-central Alabama town where preserved houses and a small museum open onto a much larger history.
