About Greentown
Greentown is a Howard County town on State Road 22 and U.S. 35, about nine miles east of Kokomo. It was laid out in 1848 and incorporated in 1873, but the town’s strongest local signature came from the Indiana Tumbler and Goblet Company. The glass plant opened during the county’s natural-gas boom and burned in 1903; the Greentown Glass Museum now holds over 2,000 pieces and related historical items. The Howard County Fairgrounds, Comet Trail, historic downtown walking route, and summer music at the fairgrounds fill out the town’s map. The local shorthand is glass, fairgrounds, Main Street, and a one-mile trail named for the school mascot.
