Greenville, NH

Greenville sits at High Falls on the Souhegan River, where an 80-foot drop supplied the waterpower for the mills that made this Hillsborough County town. Once part of Mason and known as Mason Village, it became one of New Hampshire’s smallest and newest towns when it incorporated in 1872. The river passes through the center, and Routes 31, 45, and 123 meet around the old mill settlement. Greenville is a New England mill town in a very literal sense: the falls are in the middle of the map, and the town grew around what the water could do.
