About Greenwood

Greenwood is a city and the county seat of Greenwood County, South Carolina. Originally settled in 1823 when John McGehee built a summer residence called Green Wood, the city has grown to approximately 22,500 residents. The community is home to Lander University and hosts the annual South Carolina Festival of Flowers, with outdoor recreation centered around the nearby Lake Greenwood State Park.
