Gridley, IL

Gridley is a quiet McLean County village located along Route 24, roughly 18 miles northeast of Bloomington-Normal. Founded in 1856 and named after Asahel Gridley, an early Illinois merchant and friend of Abraham Lincoln, the town originally grew around farming and the railroad. When a massive fire wiped out the downtown district in 1901, residents banded together to rebuild the entire area in just six months, establishing a tradition of community pride that continues today.
