About Hanaford

Hanaford is a village in Franklin County, Illinois, United States. The 2020 census counted 320 residents. Hanaford is also known as Logan. Initially known as "Smothersville," Hanaford was renamed for land speculator John P. That mix gives Hanaford a clear local shape within Illinois, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. In 1916, the village was renamed "Logan" for the John A. Hanaford is located southeast of the center of Franklin County. Illinois Route 34 passes through the northeast corner of the village, leading northwest 6 miles to Benton, the county seat, and southeast 5 miles to Thompsonville.
