About Hanover
Hanover is a Licking County village along Ohio State Route 16, laid out in 1849 on a site that already had some business activity. The first town plan used the name Fleming, after John Fleming, the original owner of the site; the village later took the Hanover name and incorporated in 1873. Today the route remains the clearest through-line, with Hanover sitting in eastern Licking County between older settlements and the wider central Ohio corridor. Hanover is an Ohio village whose story starts with a renamed crossroads and a road that still runs through it.
