About Harlan

Harlan is an Allen County community that grew from two nearby settlements. Lewis Reichelderfer laid out Harlan in 1853, while Maysville was platted just south of Hicksville Road in 1859; over time the two places blended, and the Harlan post office gave the larger name staying power. Farming shaped the township for generations, and Harlan Park arrived in time for the town's 1953 centennial. Today it is an unincorporated place northeast of Fort Wayne, with a rural crossroads history.
